When you rent a car from SAW Rent a Car, it is very important to have basic information about tire replacement to avoid being stranded on the road. As SAW Rent a Car, we would like to share what you need to know about tire replacement for the safety of your vehicles.
1. Prepare the Necessary Equipment
Before you start changing tires, you need to prepare the necessary equipment:
Spare tire
Crico
Star wrench (or tool set)
Danger sign (Flashing or reflector)
Glove
2. The Vehicle Should Stop in a Safe Place
Before you start changing a tire, park your vehicle in a level and safe area. If possible, apply the parking brake while the vehicle is parked. When you are on the road, use hazard signs (blinkers or reflectors) to increase visibility to other vehicles.
3. Loosen the Bolts
Before installing the spare tire, you need to loosen the vehicle's tire bolts. But do not remove the bolts completely; Just loosening it is enough. Once your vehicle is lifted with the jack, you can completely remove the bolts.
4. Lift the Vehicle with a Jack
The jack should be placed under where the vehicle remains. Pay attention to the points specified in the user manual. Raise the vehicle by turning the jack so the tire is off the ground. Make sure the vehicle is removed safely.
5. Remove Tire and Install Spare Tire
Remove the bolts completely and carefully remove the damaged tire. Place the spare tire in place and secure it by tightening the bolts by hand. Then, tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern so the tire fits properly.
6. Lower the Vehicle and Tighten the Bolts
In the position where your vehicle is raised with a jack, after installing the tire completely, lower the jack and place the vehicle on the ground. In the last step, tighten the bolts firmly. Make sure the tire is seated securely.
7. Gather Equipment
After completing the tire change, be sure to collect all equipment. Check that the spare tire is properly positioned in your vehicle and that the vehicle equipment is in place.
